Subaru Shows Solid Growth in US Market

Have you noticed that a lot of Chevy car dealerships also carry Subarus?
Subaru car dealers are on the rise, and that’s largely to both accommodate (and cash in on) the increase in Subaru sales in this country.
Subaru is the automotive division of a larger corporation called Fuji Heavy Industries, and they’ve seen a huge growth spurt in the last five-or-so years. Between the 2009 and 2013 fiscal year, an estimated 30% growth was seen, with sales jumping from about 555,000 to nearly 725,000. Keeping the recession in mind, the figures are even more impressive.
Given that the United States is the world’s second biggest automotive market, most large scale manufacturers set their sites on creating a presence here, although it’s easier said than done with mainstays like Ford, Toyota, and GM significantly occupying the territory. Even still, when calculated specifically for US sales, Subaru grew it’s sales by nearly 90% during the same five year period mentioned above. This can be partially attributed by ongoing tensions between China and Japan, making Japanese cars less of a presence in the Chinese market. When coupled with the woes of economic downturn in Europe, it’s easy to see why America is such an important sales commodity.
Another important ingredient in Subaru’s stateside success is strategy. In this case, timing was right to introduce a fleet of crossover vehicles, because SUVs are on the outs. Crossover model vehicles have been on the market in various forms for about twenty years, and currently they account for about a quarter of the total market volume. But AutomotiveCompass projects that crossovers will be the most rapidly developing aspect of the business over the next five years. Seeing this trend on the horizon, Subaru halted manufacturing of it’s bigger models two years ago and have since pumped all of it’s manpower into crossovers like Outback and Forester.
Subaru has nudged its way to being the most rapidly growing car company in its class, earning massive growth spurts as a result of keen strategy and solid management. Look for Subaru dealers in your area, oftentimes paired with local Chevy car dealerships. Check out the Subaru inventory at Chevy car dealerships that carry both and see for yourself. As a company, they seem to really understand what America wants in a car.
