When was the last time you checked your tires? Were you aware that if even one of them needs retreading or is under inflated, that it could cause your car to hydroplane on the road?

- The tread has worn down to 6/32nds of an inch.

According to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration study, when cars and other vehicles drive on under-inflated tires, there is an increased risk for accidents. When there is even 25% under-inflation, then cars are three-times more likely to be in an accident.
Driving on worn-out treads can increase the risk of hydroplaning, especially when cornering. When tests were conducted, it was determined that this can begin to occur at 47 miles per hour. When driving on new tires, however, hydroplaning may not occur in this situation until the speed is 60 miles per hour.

In general, you should rotate your tires every 7,500 miles. If the car manufacturer recommends that you do it more often, then it’s important to follow their guidelines.
