How to Stop Paying So Much For Gasoline

Hybrid car battery replacement

It seems like since the Great Recession, Americans are much more aware of what they’re spending their money on and how much. One of the biggest gripes that Americans have about their expenses is gasoline, the cost of which pretty much skyrocketed over the last few years. Here are a few things you can do to get the best fuel economy you can and stop paying so much for gas.

1. Keep Your Vehicle Well Maintained
One way to make sure that you are maximizing the fuel economy that your car is able to get is to keep your vehicle well maintained. All of the fluids should be checked and filled periodically, the parts should be in good working order, and the tires should be in good shape. Tires that are low on air are inefficient, so they should be checked periodically as well. A well functioning vehicle is also a fuel efficient vehicle.

2. Buy the Right Gas
Some people think that buying the best premium gas is a good way to increase fuel economy, but it isn’t. Different vehicles are designed to run on different gases, so just because a fuel is more expensive does not mean that it’s going to make your car run better. Check to see what the best fuel is for your particular vehicle and use that.

3. Go Hybrid
Another way to get the best MPG and fuel economy possible is to just go hybrid. The market shift is moving toward electric vehicles, anyway so it’s a good step toward that as well. Hybrids don’t just run from a gas source — they run from hybrid batteries (which are basically just electric batteries for cars). One of the concerns here is hybrid battery replacement, but since there have been a number of advancements in the technology they’re actually pretty reliable.
