Working in the world of insurance can be a fun, rewarding, and enjoyable career, but there are different paths people can pursue in the insurance field. As the attached video discusses, one of those routes is to work as an insurance broker. Home or car insurance brokers are like agents except, instead of representing one agency or firm, they sell insurance products from any number of insurance providers. The good news for people who want to become an insurance broker is that it is a fairly simple process that doesn’t require extensive amounts of time.
The first step in becoming an insurance broker is to learn what the requirements are and what you will need to do to earn your broker’s license. The State Commissioner’s insurance website for your state of residence is usually a good place to start. From there, the process will generally require some education, testing, and a background check (including fingerprints). Unfortunately, anyone with a felony history is not permitted to obtain an insurance broker’s license. Other than that exception, however, nearly anyone can become an insurance broker with reasonably little expense or time. Good luck in your future endeavors and in your career as an insurance broker.
